第五二一海軍航空隊 鵬部隊寫眞集

Photo album of the 521st Air Group of the Imperial Japanese Navy. They were a squadron group of Frances, twin-engined dive-bomber. The picture is of Count and Rear Admiral Yoshio Kamei, who commanded the air flotilla in Guam Island during the War in the Pacific in the summer of 1944..

大宮島(グアム島)への出陣を前に 第三種軍裝姿の 亀井凱夫司令。

以下の寫眞は 平成八(1996)年六月に 数奇な運命をたどってミズリー州在住のボブ・ライル氏(Mr. Robert Lyle)から 亀井家に返還されたものである。 ライル氏は当時十九歳で 米海兵隊第三水陸両用戰車隊所属の通信兵としてグアム島制圧後の情報収集パトロール中に拾得したものとの事。 

The pictures below were returned to the Kamei family from Mr. Robert Lyle in Missouri in 1996. Mr. Lyle was a 19-year-old radio-operator belonging to an amphibious tank troop of the US 3rd Marine Division. These pictures were picked up in the battle field in the northern part of Guam Island in the summer of 1944.
Thanks to the late Ms. Francis Siguenza of the War Veterans Association in Guam and the late Mr. T. Sato of Chiba Pref. who played significant role in vitalising these pictures.

亀井司令と 飛行科第四分隊長 矢島秀穂大尉(兵科七十期、六月十七日ペリリュー基地から出撃、散華、慶應義塾普通部出身、任 海軍少佐) この寫眞の裏に亀井司令の筆跡で「春日無限 鵬翼南飛 亀井凱夫 書」と墨書されている。

RADM Kamei and Lt. Commander Hideho Yajima, leader pilot of wing No.4. He was killed during combat action in Peliliu on June 17th, 1944.
He had attended middle school of KEIO GIJUKU, before he entered Naval Academy in Etajima, class of 1942.

Calligraph in brush is by RADM Kamei, saying that SPRING SUNLIGHT IS INFINITE, GREAT WINGS FLY SOUTHWARDS.

香取基地で錬成中のもので 左上、右下の寫眞に司令とともに寫ってゐるのが 飛行科第一分隊長 河野 章大尉(兵科六十八期 六月九日ペリリュー島で重傷を負はれ 内地後送。 長崎縣御在住)である。

These pictures were supposed to be taken at Katori Air Base during training. RADM Kamei and Lieutenant Akira Kono, leader pilot of wing No. 1.
Lt. Kono, class of 1940, seriously wounded during combat action in Peliliu on June 9th and was repatriated to Japan.

昭和十九年四月十八日 先遣隊が江草隆繁飛行隊長(兵科五十八期 六月十五日マリアナ西方海上で散華)に率いられ大宮島富岡第二飛行場に向けて木更津基地を出発した時のものと思われる。 中央で敬礼してゐるのが江草少佐で 壇上で答礼してゐるのが亀井大佐。

The picture above was supposed to be taken at Kisarazu Air Base, when the advance group left Japan for Guam on April 18th, 1944,
lead by Lt. Commander Takashige Egusa, a brilliant warrior of the class of 1930.

Lt. Commander Egusa salutes to his commander and Captain Kamei returns for it.

Lt. Commander Egusa was killed during combat action in the western Mariana on June 15th, 1944.
He promoted to Captain with the honour of the most prominent citation for his various contributions to IJN since 1937.
